Parent-Student Meeting - November 6, 2007

WELCOME:

PAST EVENTS:

Car Wash: Car wash/Rummage Sale;  Thank you to Kevin McCarney, Kevin Ary and Becky Encinias $1699.20 total made.

 

Pali Mountain Thank you to Kevin Ary and Connie Trimble Camp Coordinators.  Update on Pali Camp re: fires...camp is ok, they lost a couple of the older cabins and the amphitheater, but no injuries & rest of cabins are fine.

 

Burroughs on Broadway:  Thanks to Bron Savage & Teri Richardson.  An overwhelming success!!  31K made, 6K expenses, so that means a profit of $25K...way to go!

 

UPCOMING EVENTS:

Classical Festivals:  Chamber choir, festival was today at Fullerton.  Madrigals have a festival on November 15 at Santiago High School.  Sound Waves & Deci festivals were cancelled due to time conflicts.

 

Rehearsal Schedule Info:  Note change in rehearsal schedule for Sound Waves from 11/12 to 11/13 same time.  

 

Special rehearsals added with guest teacher Kevin Butler.  

11/16 Decibelles 3:00 - 5:00 pm

                Sound Waves 5:00 - 7:00 pm.  

 

11/17 Powerhouse from 9:00 - 12:00 

                Sound Sensations from 1:00 - 4:00.

 

Mandatory Candlelight Rehearsal for Powerhouse 11/20 from 7:00 - 9:00 pm.

 

Holiday Spectacular:  Dec. 7th and 8th at 8:00 pm.  Susan Dexter is in charge.  Information Packets were passed out and will be mailed to those who were not present at the meeting.  Ticket prices will be GA $15, Student & Senior $10.  If you want to do security, e-mail Steve Saracino at popee1@aol.com.  See packet for rehearsal schedule.  Remember, your child is not on stage the entire time they are at rehearsal.  They will have time to do homework.  Also, no dinner break will be given.  Eat before rehearsal or parents can drop off food for students to eat when they have a break.

 

Set Construction - Drama has a performance Sunday afternoon, so we do not have access for set construction until late Sunday the weekend before the performances!  We need construction help Sunday afternoon, Monday & Tuesday evenings.  Contact Kieth Stevens

 

Note:  We will not be doing the tree auction fundraiser this year.

 

To volunteer for any aspect of Holiday Spectacular, fill out the volunteer form in the packet or contact the chairperson of that activity.

 

Fundraising:  See's Candy Sales begin Thanksgiving Weekend.  Becky Encinias & Denise Johnson will head this up.  

 

Tribal Express cards are still available!  Get them now.  If you did not turn in any Tribal Express cards you checked out to sell, it is now too late to do so.  Your choir account will be charged for these cards.  However, you may still sell any cards you still have in your possession.

Golden Note: Liane Dietz reported Wednesday is the deadline to turn in ads for the Holiday Spectacular Program.  Any ads turned in after this date will only appear in the Pop Show Program.  If you know someone has outstanding ads, please call them to get the copy turned in ASAP!!!!

 

Students are doing great on selling Golden Notes:

Decibelles:  $1800

Sound Waves: $8200

Madrigals: $6400

PowerHouse: $12,000

 

Deadline for Pop Show ads is February 1st.

 

Volunteer Coordinator:  Bonnie Popp/Chris DeMore:  When Bonnie sends you an e-mail, be sure and reply to the person in the body of the e-mail that she has sent.  DO NOT JUST HIT REPLY.  If you do, the message will go back to Bonnie and she is just the delivery person, she does not have info on the e-mail subject.

 

New Box Office Chairman:  M'Lisa McLaren

 

Lisa Reynolds is our new Donation Chair.  If you have any items to donate for the Holiday Spectacular (or baskets) please contact Lisa.

 

Financial: Sue Orbison, Treasurer,  Jackie Kelley, Financial Secretary

 Sue reported that $71K was deposited and $36K sent out.  Be sure to give Sue any receipts you need for reimbursement.  

 

Payments need to be made on time to student choir accounts.  Be sure you are keeping up on your payments.


We now have a new stamp that will be stamped onto your student's envelope when a payment is turned in through choir.  This stamp will help us to keep track of who the payment is from, how much it is and what it is towards.  Also, we now have a receipt book for cash payments.  Remember, cash payments can only go through Debbie Stevens.

 

A Budget Meeting with the financial people will be held next week.

NEW BUSINESS

Booster Etiquette:  This is a friendly reminder....we don't ever want to say anything negative about a student or a choir.  If you happen to be privileged to watch a rehearsal, do not talk about it negatively.  Also, same guidelines go for competitions, whether it be our choir or another school's choir.  

Remember:  No videotaping of rehearsals.  No discussion of costumes, sets, etc. in public settings, including the internet.

Finally, if you have questions about anything other than grades or your student's academic progress, DO NOT contact Mr. Jennings.  Contact a booster president or chairperson.
